Coincidental Major by @m7707

Wednesday, March 30, 2011.
Pairing: Edward / Bella
Status: WIP
Warnings: Lemon alert!

Okay so if you were listening in a few Fridays ago on my Friday Free For all about sports fics you might remember me mentioning a story called Major Misconduct I also mentioned how super trilled I was that she was going to write Edward's version of things. What I didn't know was that she had already started it. That's what this is about. This is Edward's tail.

Okay so I told you a little bit about this story before but for those of you that weren't with us let me explain a little...Basically Edward is a hockey player and Bella is the shy girl in school. They both like each other and are too afraid or self conscious to act upon it, but when they do amazing things happen ;-) This Edward and Bella are that couple that is voted most likely to end up married. They're just that in love and I think it's wonderfully cute.

Now it's not necessary to read Major Misconduct first. Coincidental Major can stand on it's own which is amazing. You can read these fics in any order you choose, however I do suggest reading MM first, if only for the fact that it's complete and you wouldn't be tempted to start in Edward's story and then jump over. Go read MM and then hop over to CM when you want to know what's goin on in that pretty bronze head of his. Just like reading Midnight Sun after Twilight it gives you a new appreciation for Edward. Currently chapter 9 is up and i'm basically jumping in my seat waiting for the next update. However be prepared for some interesting happenings if you read either one of these stories. It's not all love and rainbows but I guarantee you it's one hell of a ride.

Pairing: E/B

Rating: M/NC-17

Status: WIP

A recently widowed Bella moves to Seattle to start a new life. Upon reconnecting with her friend Alice Cullen, Bella meets her brother and business partner, Chef Edward Cullen. Celibate by choice for two years, what will happen when Edward finds himself undeniably attracted to the sexy new Bella that Alice helps create?

I usually find stories to read from rec’s from trusted authors and friends. It’s RARE for me to go fic diving. And I never go fic diving at Fanfiction.net (and let’s face it, with that site being so wonky lately, it’s kind of hard to do anything there unless you have a direct link to the story you want to read). But when I do go fic diving, I do it on Twilighted.net (they show all those cool banners for the stories LOL). So, that is how I found this little gem.

I am loving this story. Bella moves to Seattle after her husband and father were killed in the line of duty. When she gets there, she’s sad and alone and looking like a cross between Mary Poppins and emo-grunge-girl (those are Edward’s words heehee). Bella straps on her big girl panties and contacts Alice Cullen, whom she met during a cooking school class. Alice immediately befriends Bella and recognizes that something is wrong with her cause she’s not as perky as she was before. Alice also recognizes that Bella is a beauty hiding behind the “lesbian lumberjack” look Bella has going on, so she offers to help her with a makeover and offers her a job at her restaurant Wild that she owns with her brother, Edward.

Ah, Edward. What can I say about him? Hot? Check. Smart? Check. Cooks? Oh my stars, check. A man that can cook is extra hot. Edward doesn’t give a thought about Bella when he first meets her, other than to warn Alice that she might not be who she claims to be (he’s looking out for his little sister). After Bella gets her makeover….look out! Edward can’t do anything but think about Bella. But here’s the problem….Edward has had some crappy relationships and has decided to remain single and celibate.

The UST between Edward and Bella is off the chart! But she’s playing it off like she’s not interested in him and he’s fighting it tooth and nail. When Bella runs into former high school friend, Mike Newton, and he asks her out, Edward is at war with himself over what he wants and how he lives. Will Edward and Bella ever get together? Read this with me and we’ll find out together.

Catch ya next time, with some more Cullen Lovin’.

Enigma Lynne - Hello, Fandom. It is I, the Florida Twin, Enigma

leckadams -  Ohio Twin - leckadams reporting for whatever it is we do :)

Enigma Lynne -  We do things. Lots of things. Silly things, happy things, stupid things. naughty things....but there happens to be a specific "thing" that seems to be flooding the Fandom right now....

leckadams - Fandom for Causes!

Enigma Lynne - It seems that they have EXPLODED over the fandom lately... I think there are at least 6 of them going right now....

leckadams - Hmmm let us count the causes..Tsunami

Enigma Lynne -  Haiti...Domestic Abuse is one...Australia floods.

leckadams - I know there are some more - although it is difficult to discern the abbreviations when they pop up on twitter

Enigma Lynne  - Right now, TwiFicPics has a forum for Banners For Causes, and the ones listed are Fandom Fights Hunger, Fandom Fights Mental Illness, Fandom For Tsunami, Fandom For Sexual Assault Awareness, Autism Awareness, Fandom Fights the floods....I know that there is a few others out there...needless to say there are a lot of them out there. Twin, do you participate in these?

leckadams -  No, I personally don't. I provide my support offline, but I love the idea of fandom coming together for these causes.  How about you Twin?

Enigma Lynne - The first one I participated in was actually the Fandom For Floods. It was for the Australian Floods, to raise money to help the people in trouble. I've also signed up to do the Fandom For Tsunami Relief. It's interesting...

leckadams - I have major respect for the authors that contribute! It takes a lot to come up with an idea for a o/s and to do that on short notice is amazing

Enigma Lynne - It was kind of hard at first, but once I got an idea going it was pretty easy. I like the fact that so many authors participate in these things. It's a nice way to raise money. Something as small as a $5 donation gets you a full compilation of some amazing stories by some amazing authors.

leckadams - That is a great way to support a cause and get some great stories!

Enigma Lynne -  What's cool about it is authors get a copy of the compilation too!

leckadams - That right there is another great incentive to write!

Enigma Lynne - So that means you'll sign up for one and write, right? :)

leckadams -  Way to put me on the spot Twin!

Enigma Lynne - What?! I didn't say you had to do one NOW I'm just saying that it's a great way for people who are new to writing stories to get their feet wet! Aren't you posting your first or second story right now?

leckadams - I am working on posting my first multi-chapter story, yes. I agree it is a great way to get your feet wet, but I can understand how intimidating it could be for a first time or inexperienced writer

Enigma Lynne -  True, but don't you think that a one shot would be easier than a multi-chapter fic? I know when i first did my multi-chapter fic with Undercover, I was terrified and it was also tough to keep up with a weekly posting schedule...

leckadams - Oh yea! O/S are soooo much easier in my opinion! (At least they are for me) Multi-chapters are difficult and intimidating. Definitely makes you understanding when it comes to getting updates in your email!

Enigma Lynne -  That's why I think they are a good place for some newbies to start. Aside from the fact that there are some amazing causes out there who are getting some serious bonuses with the fandom donations, I also think that young writers can get some good practice with this. Know what else I think is pretty amazing? The fandom contests.

leckadams - Contests, huh? Yea I am a fan of those too

Enigma Lynne - I've only entered one. The Love Actually contest. Some of those one shots were simply amazing! It was all about love and what love meant. Me? I'm a hopeless romantic, even in my lust for angst.

leckadams - See this is where I take one end of the Twin spectrum and you take the other, I think I am pretty practical about romance, BUT I do love reading contest entries. I am currently writing a O/S for one!

Enigma Lynne - Really? What contest? I want to enter another contest...

leckadams - Well it's actually being put on by our very own Boss lady & fellow h00r Mcgt2008! It's the Showers to Flowers contest. They are pic inspired stories about summer and spring. I have it on good authority that I actually inspired one of the pic choices :)

Enigma Lynne - REALLY!? Boss Lady is putting on a contest and I didn't know about this? Where the hell have I been? Oh yeah. Working a lot. Dammit. Is there still time to enter?

leckadams - PLENTY of time! They are accepting entries April 1- May 10 Here's the site for a few more details on it ;)

http://thewrittenwordrevisited.blogspot.com/p/showers-to-flowers.html?zx=49cefb280074311e

And in case you were wondering here's a hint at which pic I inspired - it has to do with footwear :)

Enigma Lynne - HA! Those are some awesome pictures, and there are a few HOT ones in there too! Know what my problem is, Twin? Spring is already in the 80s. It's hot here!!! I tried to run outside and almost died from heat exhaustion. If things are going to be hot like that, I want them to be hot in my bedroom with Mister Enigma.

leckadams - I don't want to hear about your weather Twin!  It finally got to upper 60s the last few days and now there is a chance of snow later this week :(  But that's Spring in Ohio for you

Enigma Lynne - Not in Florida. Did you know that I already have a tan? Granted, it's from running so it's kinda gross, but it's a tan. A great sports bra and running shorts tan!

leckadams -  When you say things like that it makes me not like you Twin

Enigma Lynne - Most people don't like me because of my weather, Twin. I'm used to it.

leckadams - Well in Ohio we have - ummm.....lots of construction! (That ways not the come back I was hoping it would become)

Enigma Lynne - *snickers* Well, I think this is it for this month Twin. Know what I think we should work on for next month?

leckadams - What's that?

Enigma Lynne - A wrestling match between our favorite authors!  We talked about this before Twin!

leckadams - I know, but I didn't know if it was time of not! I am sooooo on board for that!

Enigma Lynne - I think it's time! I think that now that April Showers will be coming, we need to make good use of that mud! It'll be our little version of the March Madness bracket!

leckadams - Oh and you know how I feel about my brackets!

Enigma Lynne - Yes, I do, oh sporty Twin of mine! So get crackin! Start doing your research now and pick your authors so we can pit them against each other in an all out battle covered in water, mud and happiness!

leckadams - Oh I'll be ready!

Enigma Lynne - And so will I! Be on the look out h00rs! We might post some ideas and get some feed back before the next post so we can make this battle interactive! Till then, Florida Twin, signing off!

leckadams - Ohio Twin - Gone! :)

Thursday Drizzle Challenge

Thursday, March 24, 2011.
Sooo—here it is.  Our inaugural post for the Thursday Drizzle Challenge!

Each week, I’ll be posting a pic - maybe 2 if I can’t decide - for your enjoyment.  Oh, but voyeurism never comes without a price.  So, in return, I need your drizzles.  Write me a pretty little tale to go with it.  I’ll take whatcha got to offer -- a little love, some tart lemons, a pinch of angst,  a dash of slash.  I’m pretty flexible.  About the only thing I don’t want to see is the obvious — rape, incest, pedophilia, bestiality.  Obviously vamp and wolf love, though are the exceptions to the rule!

What constitutes a drizzle?  Well they're a little longer than a drabble, but not quite a one shot.  They are usually between 500-1000 words, give or take a few.

Email us your entries at twificreviews@yahoo.com, or if they are a bit longer, throw it on ff.net or your favorite writing site and send us the link.

I need any entries or links by 11:59 EST Tuesday night., Every Thursday I’ll share your entries and give you some more picspiration for the next weekend to keep you inspired.

Without futher ado, This week's picspiration:

Hey baby, need a hand with that?

hhhmmmmmm  SWOON  I see soo much potential FarmerWard? ConstructionSper?  Where will your mind go with it?   So lets see it!  Tease me, tantalize me!

Let Your Fingers Do the Talking by busymommy

Monday, March 21, 2011.

Pairing: Bella/Jasper
Rating: NC-17
Status: WIP
Warnings: Lemons

Bella works in an office along with some of her good friends. One of those friends she's had a crush on for a very long time and that just happens to be IT guy Jasper Whitlock. She and Jasper are in this awkward flirting to which of course Bella is oblivious to. Then one day Bella starts to get text messages from an unknown person. She can't call the number because it's through an online site. These text are....suggestive, to say the least and as Bella says "I didn't know it was possible to orgasm via text message". It is possible. The only draw back is that Bella has no idea who is sending these messages. When she finds out the results are, shall we say...explosive.

So my friends will be shocked to know that I actually read a non canon story and absolutely loved it. If all Bella/Jasper stories were like this it could make me a convert. Who would have thought? So what is it that makes this story so amazing. Well besides the fact that Jasper is a smooth talking mother ****er this story kept me guessing which is saying a lot since it's only two chapters long as of right now.

I can go on and on about why I think you should read it but if this story can take a strict E/B girl and make her root for Jasper that has to tell you something right there. Happy reading!

Losing Control by StupidLeeches

Pairing: Embry/Other Character
Rating: M
Complete

Summary: Embry Call isn't interested in an imprintee, or a girlfriend, for that matter. Enter Lillah Hunter, a Forks native returning after years of being away. She's the last woman Embry wants to meet. So why can't he stay away from her?

Meet Lillah. She’s a young woman returning home to Forks to teach at Forks High. She’s insecure, doesn’t think that guys can find her attractive, has a hard time accepting her body, eats as little as possible, and makes a point of running once or even twice a day to lose weight. One day, she gets paired up with Rachel Black to coach the cheerleader squad. Little does she know that it’s going to turn her whole world upside down. Through Rachel, she meets Embry…who imprints.

Now, we wolf girls sometimes resent the fact that Stephenie Meyer didn’t give a happy ending to all the pack members at the end of the series. But on the other hand, it just gives us the possibility to do whatever we want with them. We all want to find the perfect girls for our dear wolves, which is why I was a little reluctant to read this fic. My Embry imprints on someone who I think is the best girl for him. It’s hard to read about him imprinting on someone I didn’t choose. But I was surprised at how much I actually liked Losing Control.

Because you see, Embry never wanted to imprint. He knows it’s not Lillah’s fault but he’s not going to accept her. He’s going to fight the imprint as much as he can, even if it means he has to be a total jerk. The problem is…fighting an imprint is certainly one of the most difficult things in the world.

The two lovely girls who wrote this fic depict the wolf pack perfectly. The interaction between all of them is simply perfect. All the couples are canon, including Jacob and Nessie. And Lillah is a girl who could all identify with. An ex-boyfriend hurt us and now we have a hard time accepting ourselves. So it’s always handy to have a sexy werewolf to help us overcome our insecurities. I really promise that you won’t be disappointed by this fic…Oh. And did I mention it’s full of sexy times in the bedroom, the kitchen, the bathroom, the living room…Because it totally is ;)

Hush Little Baby - by Lifelesslyndsey

Pairing: Peter/Bella
Rating: M
Warnings: Adult themes
Status: Complete O/S
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5863197/1/Hush_Little_Baby

Summary: Fragments of Her broken heart, trite as it sounded, were proverbially lodged in their ancient wood. Part of Her lived in these woods, part of Her died in these woods. He followed the pieces and found her.

Sometimes you read a story that is so well done, yet so completely unique that you’re in awe of the author’s ability and shocked that you’ve never stumbled across their stories before. LIfelessLyndsey is one of those authors that I have become spellbound by her amazing writing of Hush Little Baby.

The story was originally written for the We Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Coven Contest last year and won the public vote as the favorite story of those entered. Its prose is beautifully written and drew me right into the pain and unbearable longing of Peter and Bella’s individual heartbreaks.

It all begins with Bella being so lost that she hasn’t spoken a word since Edward left her in the woods. She finds herself in the meadow and is found by Laurent and the wolves, but flees in a moment of self preservation and ends up on Peter’s newly inhabited doorstep. He is completely drawn to her and cannot help himself from his desire to drain the life right out of her. He somehow stops himself and allows her to change.

“I felt no need to explain my past as she felt no need to remember hers. We were two clean slates come together, both nothing and everything all at once.”

After she awakens from the change, she still does not speak, but writes her words, a la Helen Keller, on his wrist to explain what she wants. During her first hunt, one of her talents is revealed when Peter’s mind is filled with her thoughts. When they return to the house, it is then that they discover what her true devastating ability really is. I won’t ruin the story by telling you more than that, but it truly is worth the time spent on reading it.

I loved this story so much, that I now have a longing to read all the other stories that she’s written. So don’t be surprised if sometime in the future, another story of hers pops up in one of my reviews.

My Paddy’s Day in Galway

Thursday, March 17, 2011.

My Paddy’s Day in Galway
I’m pretty much sure that most people don’t know this part of my life so we need some kind of background information before we start. I’m French and last year, I spent eight months in Galway, in western Ireland. Granted, it was a study exchange but it doesn’t mean that we couldn’t have fun. And being in Ireland for Paddy’s Day was bound to be brilliant craic. (I never have the opportunity to use my Irish vocab so you bet I’m gonna use it today, like.) And true to what was expected, it was absolutely savage.

To spend a good Paddy’s Day, you need to be organized, in order to get drunk, that is. Shops are all closed and so are the pubs. The only places opened were the fast-foods and only McDonald’s was open (Supermac’s aka Irish amazingly super good burger/pizza places are closed, too). So you have to go to the shop the day before and hope you don’t look like an alcoholic when you realize that your basket is filled with bottles of Guinness, WKD, Carlsberg and so on. But then you feel better when you see that everybody else is doing the same.

Then comes March, 17th. It was a Wednesday last year and there was a big parade in Galway. Big means actually relatively small compared to what you can have in Dublin but Galway is a small city and the parade was pretty big for a small city. Even if we were French, we made a point to dress in green and I even had flashy shamrock-shaped earrings (that I still have today but they do not flash anymore). I had a friend who always dressed in black and she made an effort to wear a green tee-shirt that day (and she had a green lighter, too. Apparently, it counts.) Because you know that if you don’t wear at least one thing that is green on Paddy’s Day, bad things may happen to you, like.

I think the entire city was crammed into the Main Street to watch the parade. What was funny is that it turned out into a parade of everything but people celebrating Paddy’s day. We saw people dressed as Darth Vader and clones, people who were dressed in hearts, lungs, ears (seriously. It was crazy). But all in all, it was good craic because everybody was in one place to enjoy the day. And it didn’t rain. I mean, if you’ve ever been to Galway, you know that a day without rain is to be enjoyed. It was windy, though. I was wearing and mini (extra mini) skirt and I was always trying to get it to stay down.

After the Parade was over, the hardest part of the day started. We had to make our way into the thousands of people just to get to a place where we could find food. Then, we went to eat at the Spanish Arch (it’s a famous place in Galway, next to the Corrib River. I lived in Corrib Park. Everything in Galway is named after the river. Incredible). We had brought alcohol with us but it never made it out of my bag. Loads of people were drinking while eating but they seemed to have forgotten that it’s forbidden. You’re going to tell me that they don’t care and that anyway Irish people do it 365 days a year anyway. Drinking in public places, that is. The only problem was that Gardai people (this is the name of thz Police in the Republic of Ireland) were everywhere. I saw some of them, taking beers from people’s hands and empty the alcohol into the river. So when we were done with our Shamrock milkshakes, we went back home to drink in peace. And what happened next doesn’t need to be said. I swear to God that one year in Ireland can make you super tolerant to alcohol. I could drink fours pints in one night and feel just slightly tipsy!)

Shenanigans by Amber’n’Bronze

Shenanigans by Amber’n’Bronze
Summary: Edward and Emmett's hysterical St. Patrick's Day adventures. One Shot
Characters: Edward and Emmett
Rating: T

So, hmmmm…I’m kind of ashamed that I have to admit it but I had to look the word “shenanigan” up because I had no idea what it meant. But it’s not like it’s really written in Irish after all. How could I have known it came from the Irish language? I mean, it looks obvious but still. Anyway…
Emmett is my favorite Cullen, which is saying A LOT since I pretty much want to hit all the others with my copy of Breaking Dawn. But I like Emmett. He’s fun and he always seems happy and I wouldn’t mind having it as my friend. Edward on the contrary…that’s a discussion for another day. And I have to say that Emmett wanting to celebrate Paddy’s Day can only go wrong. It’s to be expected.
Edward and Emmett go to a St Patrick Parade in Chicago. Well, Emmett sort of drags Edward because Ed doesn’t see what the fun is all about. But Emmett is going to have such a blast and you, too. I laughed so much while reading this one shot and I’m positive that it’ll have the same effect on you. Just like the short summary tells you, it’s all about“Edward and Emmett's hysterical St. Patrick's Day adventures.” Didn’t you know that everybody’s Irish on Paddy’s Day? ;)

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

The Irish have been commemorating this day for over a thousand years.  Granted, it wasn’t at all the debauchery filled scene that the US has now made it into.  Nope, originally it was a religious holiday that remembered the death of the man who converted countless Celtic Druids to Christianity.  The Irish would attend church in the morning and then celebrate in the afternoon.  The holiday traditionally fell during the season of lent, however the Lenten prohibitions of eating meat would be waived and revelers would dance, drink and eat the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage.
Modern day celebrations in Ireland have been used as an opportunity to increase tourism to the Irish Isle.  Last year’s multi-day festival in Dublin featuring parades, concerts, fireworks and hosted close to a million celebrants.
Many of us have heard of the Chicago’s longstanding St. Patrick’s Day tradition of turning the Chicago River green.   This tradition started back in 1962 as a pollution control measure where workers used dyes to trace illegal sewage discharges and realized that the green color might make a festive way to celebrate the holiday.  The city has toned down the color only using 40 pounds of the dye instead of the original 100 pounds that would keep the river green for a week.  It only stays green for a few hours these days.
No matter how you plan on celebrating this holiday, it is one filled with a rich history even if most of us only care about what time our local Irish pub opens.  So I urge you if you’re interested in the lore of the holiday to check out the History Channel or Wikipedia’s sites, as they helped me greatly with researching the above information.
When I was fic diving for Irish and Saint Patrick day stories I found a few that I’d like to feature for you.
Volition by Rochelle Allison
Pairing: Edward/Bella
Rating: M
Warnings: Lemons
Status: Complete
Volition is a AH story set in a time of turmoil in Ireland. From the late 1968 to 1998 Ireland was in a constant state of unrest. The conflicting beliefs of two religions and dissatisfaction with the English rule and the Constitution made for a hostile environment. The time that is referred to simply as "The Troubles" is when this story takes place. Volition is a look into the lives of the locals during that time. Bella is a young woman attending school and Edward is the slightly older best friend of her brother who falls in love with her. However loving Edward is dangerous business because what Bella doesn't know is that Edward and her brother Emmett are more involved in the conflict than she thought. Dating the leader of the local "rebel" group isn't easy nor is it safe. Will their love be enough to make it through not only their nation’s troubles but their own? This story captures the essence of the surrounding environment the best that I've ever seen. You feel the urgency, the hopelessness, the suppression but also the love for family and country. This isn't just fiction. These are real life events to a certain extent. If you visit Belfast or any of the Northern Irish cities and talk to locals they'll tell you what it was like to live there during that time. You can see the bullet holes in the walls and the political paintings are still fresh on the sides of buildings. I applaud her for not only giving us a wonderfully thought out and executed love story but also a slice of history. – Review by KatieCav

Mo Chroi – by SweetDulcinea
Pairing:  Edward/Bella
Rating: M
Warnings:  Lemons
Status: O/S complete
This story centers on the hardship of a long distance love affair.  Edward comes to the states to work as a camp counselor for one summer where he meets and falls in love with Bella.  It’s about what happens when communication breaks down and misunderstandings are allowed to fester.  It’s a quick but sweet read about what happens when time and the truth can bring about forgiveness and love.

No Green – by EclipsedbyJacob
Pairing:  Edward/Bella
Rating: M
Warnings:  Lemons
Status: O/S complete
This cute one-shot is based on the concept of not wearing green will get you pinched, and boy does Bella get pinched.  Edward and Bella work in a small restaurant and are forced to work on St. Patrick’s Day.  Bella’s had a crush on Edward for some time, but had yet to act on it.  They unknowingly become voyeurs to a hot and heavy make out session in their dining room and the rest is all about finding out where the green is.  The story is short and sweet and by the end you’re wishing for it to go on a bit longer.

Kiss Me, I'm Irish by IrishTwiFicster
Pairing: Edward/Bella
Rating: M
Warnings: Lemons
Status: WIP

An Irish Edward with the mouth only a mother could love.  This Edward is funny and charming and apparently able to do just about anything and everything.  He owns bars and motorcycles and can whip up a feast all with the wave a hand.  Bella is Alice’s long time pen pal from the states and finally decides to fulfill her dream of travelling Europe for six months.  Her first stop is Ireland where she meets Edward on board the same plane when he inadvertently sticks his arse in her face while trying to get past the drink cart.
The humor is infectious and the author does a fantastic job bringing using Irish slang and describing the local places in depth.  Thankfully she also puts in translations at the bottom to help explain some of the vocabulary we might not catch.  It’s a quick and fun read.

Displaced by Algonquinrt
Rating: M
Warnings: Lemons
Status: O/S complete
Originally this story was written for the Age of Edward contest and is set around 1939 during the immigration boom in the United States.  Edward is on his way from Ireland to meet up with his family in New York City.  He notices a lovely brunette woman who seems to be traveling alone, very uncommon during that time.  When they arrive at Elis Island, Bella is hassled for not having the proper paperwork and without a sponsor she will be sent back to her homeland.   Edward steps in and saves her from being deported by saying that she’s his wife who became separated from their travelling party.   Unfortunately for Edward he didn’t realize that his words would have such a long reaching effect on his life.
The story weaves a tale of strangers forced to get to know one another even though they don’t speak the same language.  Bella is polish and speaks very little English.  They work together to teach each other their respective languages and end up falling in love after all.

This story is a short four shot that had me grinning throughout.  It’s set on St. Patrick’s Day in Chicago when Bella literally stumbles into Emmett spilling his beer all over him.  It’s not complete, and likely won’t be, but if you think about it as a four-shot with a semi-ambiguous ending, I’d still recommend it.

St. Patrick’s Day Trivia:
·    What did Patrick use to symbolize the holy trinity when explaining it to the Druids?
·    What color was originally associated with Saint Patrick (hint, it isn’t green.)
·    Where is the largest running Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in North America held?
·    The US Irish population out numbers those residing in Ireland by how many times?
·    What US State boasts the most population with Irish roots?
·    What city aside from Dublin boasts the largest St. Patrick’s Day celebration in Ireland?
·    What other city aside from Chicago dyes their main water way green?

A Review In Etiquette: Criticism

Please take fair warning - this class is more like a rant....

One of the hardest things that anyone can take is criticism. No one really wants to admit it, but it's the truth: it hurts to hear that you suck at something. Even constructive criticism can hurt someone's feelings. The problem is, nowadays there has been a rise of what I like to call the "Mean Girl Epidemic" and it's starting to leak into fandoms and cause lots of drama. So much so that people are quitting: they are giving up their stories, pulling the ones they have listed, and walking away. Why? Because someone skipped class the day in kindergarten when the golden rule was taught.

Or at least forgot how to be respectful enough to express their opinions in a decent manner.

I know that there is going to be some negative reviews out there. I've been on the receiving end of them just as much as all of you have. The problem is not leaving a negative review, but doing so nicely.

Carrie had shared with me: In one of my recent fics I took a lot of flak for how I ended it, and it was the first time I'd been openly called conceited, a cocktease, and a "fucking bitch" over anything I wrote. That didn't feel good, particularly because it took me by surprise; I thought everyone would understand where I'd been going with the story and I was genuinely horrified to find out that that wasn't the case.

Why do people think that being this rude is okay? Would you have appreciated being called those things? I'm betting you wouldn't have. So what makes you think that speaking like this to another person would have been okay? It's not, plain and simple.

There have been many fics that I have read that have not ended the way I have liked, or would have ended myself, but that never made me leave a nasty review that stooped to name calling. I have found a polite way of responding that expressed my opinion politely: I adore your story, but the ending kind of broke my heart. Part of me wished for a happy ending, but I follow what you did and why you left it that way. I look forward to reading your new fic when posted!

That particular writer was so happy that I had said something nice about the way she had ended her story, that she took the time to email me back and express such feelings. We started to talk and she explained that her idea of a happy ending was not mine. After a lengthy discussion, I understood why she wrote it the way she did, and she offered to write a happy ending for me. I politely declined, because I'd rather a story stay in it's true form than be changed because of my desires.

So my lesson for this month is simply this: Do unto others as you would have done unto you.

Or in a more modern day "Mean Girl" way - Quit being such a bitch, and grow the frak up. Not everything has to be about you.

Class, dismissed.

Episode by BoydBlog

Wednesday, March 16, 2011.

Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Edward and Bella
Status: WIP

Let's talk about another story that absolutely owns me. And that is Episode by BoydBlog. In this story Bella is an Australian writer who stumbles upon Edward a Hollywood movie star in the hotel's VIP bar. Edward is playing a tune on the piano and before she knows it Bella has written the lyrics to the song. When she finally gets the gut to talk to him the sparks fly like crazy. However they are not without their problems. Crazy co-stars and crazier ex's come into play and at one point you have to ask “Will they ever get their shit together and … get together?” All in all a really sit on the edge of your seat read.

I have to admit for being a sucker for those famous Edward and normal girl Bella stories. I think the difference between them lends more toward the difference that occurs in the original twilight story. I'm also a huge music nerd so this lends to that as well. Because I am a music minded gal myself I always look at the songs that stories like this use. Her song selection is amazing and you can usually tell immediately how it relates to the chapter by what the title is.

When I say that this story owns me it's because honestly it drives me absolutely bonkers. It's one of those stories that draws you in to the point where you start screaming at your computer screen. The characters are interesting and real. Something I love about this story is while it's an AH she was able to keep many of the same issues that she did in the series. While she was very observant about somethings she was completely clueless about others and BoydBlog definitely uses this to her advantage in this story. Bella has some deep seeded abandonment issues when it comes to her relationships. The only other person she ever gave her heart too pretty much trampled it into the dirt. As a result she has this uncanny ability to deny what is right in front of her face and that fact is frustrating but always keeps me coming back for more.
