A recently widowed Bella moves to Seattle to start a new life. Upon reconnecting with her friend Alice Cullen, Bella meets her brother and business partner, Chef Edward Cullen. Celibate by choice for two years, what will happen when Edward finds himself undeniably attracted to the sexy new Bella that Alice helps create?
I usually find stories to read from rec’s from trusted authors and friends. It’s RARE for me to go fic diving. And I never go fic diving at Fanfiction.net (and let’s face it, with that site being so wonky lately, it’s kind of hard to do anything there unless you have a direct link to the story you want to read). But when I do go fic diving, I do it on Twilighted.net (they show all those cool banners for the stories LOL). So, that is how I found this little gem.
I am loving this story. Bella moves to Seattle after her husband and father were killed in the line of duty. When she gets there, she’s sad and alone and looking like a cross between Mary Poppins and emo-grunge-girl (those are Edward’s words heehee). Bella straps on her big girl panties and contacts Alice Cullen, whom she met during a cooking school class. Alice immediately befriends Bella and recognizes that something is wrong with her cause she’s not as perky as she was before. Alice also recognizes that Bella is a beauty hiding behind the “lesbian lumberjack” look Bella has going on, so she offers to help her with a makeover and offers her a job at her restaurant Wild that she owns with her brother, Edward.
Ah, Edward. What can I say about him? Hot? Check. Smart? Check. Cooks? Oh my stars, check. A man that can cook is extra hot. Edward doesn’t give a thought about Bella when he first meets her, other than to warn Alice that she might not be who she claims to be (he’s looking out for his little sister). After Bella gets her makeover….look out! Edward can’t do anything but think about Bella. But here’s the problem….Edward has had some crappy relationships and has decided to remain single and celibate.
The UST between Edward and Bella is off the chart! But she’s playing it off like she’s not interested in him and he’s fighting it tooth and nail. When Bella runs into former high school friend, Mike Newton, and he asks her out, Edward is at war with himself over what he wants and how he lives. Will Edward and Bella ever get together? Read this with me and we’ll find out together.
Catch ya next time, with some more Cullen Lovin’.

leckadams - Ohio Twin - leckadams reporting for whatever it is we do :)
Enigma Lynne - We do things. Lots of things. Silly things, happy things, stupid things. naughty things....but there happens to be a specific "thing" that seems to be flooding the Fandom right now....
leckadams - Fandom for Causes!
Enigma Lynne - It seems that they have EXPLODED over the fandom lately... I think there are at least 6 of them going right now....
leckadams - Hmmm let us count the causes..Tsunami
Enigma Lynne - Haiti...Domestic Abuse is one...Australia floods.
leckadams - I know there are some more - although it is difficult to discern the abbreviations when they pop up on twitter
Enigma Lynne - Right now, TwiFicPics has a forum for Banners For Causes, and the ones listed are Fandom Fights Hunger, Fandom Fights Mental Illness, Fandom For Tsunami, Fandom For Sexual Assault Awareness, Autism Awareness, Fandom Fights the floods....I know that there is a few others out there...needless to say there are a lot of them out there. Twin, do you participate in these?
leckadams - No, I personally don't. I provide my support offline, but I love the idea of fandom coming together for these causes. How about you Twin?
Enigma Lynne - The first one I participated in was actually the Fandom For Floods. It was for the Australian Floods, to raise money to help the people in trouble. I've also signed up to do the Fandom For Tsunami Relief. It's interesting...
leckadams - I have major respect for the authors that contribute! It takes a lot to come up with an idea for a o/s and to do that on short notice is amazing
Enigma Lynne - It was kind of hard at first, but once I got an idea going it was pretty easy. I like the fact that so many authors participate in these things. It's a nice way to raise money. Something as small as a $5 donation gets you a full compilation of some amazing stories by some amazing authors.
leckadams - That is a great way to support a cause and get some great stories!
Enigma Lynne - What's cool about it is authors get a copy of the compilation too!
leckadams - That right there is another great incentive to write!
Enigma Lynne - So that means you'll sign up for one and write, right? :)
leckadams - Way to put me on the spot Twin!
Enigma Lynne - What?! I didn't say you had to do one NOW I'm just saying that it's a great way for people who are new to writing stories to get their feet wet! Aren't you posting your first or second story right now?
leckadams - I am working on posting my first multi-chapter story, yes. I agree it is a great way to get your feet wet, but I can understand how intimidating it could be for a first time or inexperienced writer
Enigma Lynne - True, but don't you think that a one shot would be easier than a multi-chapter fic? I know when i first did my multi-chapter fic with Undercover, I was terrified and it was also tough to keep up with a weekly posting schedule...
leckadams - Oh yea! O/S are soooo much easier in my opinion! (At least they are for me) Multi-chapters are difficult and intimidating. Definitely makes you understanding when it comes to getting updates in your email!
Enigma Lynne - That's why I think they are a good place for some newbies to start. Aside from the fact that there are some amazing causes out there who are getting some serious bonuses with the fandom donations, I also think that young writers can get some good practice with this. Know what else I think is pretty amazing? The fandom contests.
leckadams - Contests, huh? Yea I am a fan of those too
Enigma Lynne - I've only entered one. The Love Actually contest. Some of those one shots were simply amazing! It was all about love and what love meant. Me? I'm a hopeless romantic, even in my lust for angst.
leckadams - See this is where I take one end of the Twin spectrum and you take the other, I think I am pretty practical about romance, BUT I do love reading contest entries. I am currently writing a O/S for one!
Enigma Lynne - Really? What contest? I want to enter another contest...
leckadams - Well it's actually being put on by our very own Boss lady & fellow h00r Mcgt2008! It's the Showers to Flowers contest. They are pic inspired stories about summer and spring. I have it on good authority that I actually inspired one of the pic choices :)
Enigma Lynne - REALLY!? Boss Lady is putting on a contest and I didn't know about this? Where the hell have I been? Oh yeah. Working a lot. Dammit. Is there still time to enter?
leckadams - PLENTY of time! They are accepting entries April 1- May 10 Here's the site for a few more details on it ;)
http://thewrittenwordrevisited.blogspot.com/p/showers-to-flowers.html?zx=49cefb280074311e
And in case you were wondering here's a hint at which pic I inspired - it has to do with footwear :)
Enigma Lynne - HA! Those are some awesome pictures, and there are a few HOT ones in there too! Know what my problem is, Twin? Spring is already in the 80s. It's hot here!!! I tried to run outside and almost died from heat exhaustion. If things are going to be hot like that, I want them to be hot in my bedroom with Mister Enigma.
leckadams - I don't want to hear about your weather Twin! It finally got to upper 60s the last few days and now there is a chance of snow later this week :( But that's Spring in Ohio for you
Enigma Lynne - Not in Florida. Did you know that I already have a tan? Granted, it's from running so it's kinda gross, but it's a tan. A great sports bra and running shorts tan!
leckadams - When you say things like that it makes me not like you Twin
Enigma Lynne - Most people don't like me because of my weather, Twin. I'm used to it.
leckadams - Well in Ohio we have - ummm.....lots of construction! (That ways not the come back I was hoping it would become)
Enigma Lynne - *snickers* Well, I think this is it for this month Twin. Know what I think we should work on for next month?
leckadams - What's that?
Enigma Lynne - A wrestling match between our favorite authors! We talked about this before Twin!
leckadams - I know, but I didn't know if it was time of not! I am sooooo on board for that!
Enigma Lynne - I think it's time! I think that now that April Showers will be coming, we need to make good use of that mud! It'll be our little version of the March Madness bracket!
leckadams - Oh and you know how I feel about my brackets!
Enigma Lynne - Yes, I do, oh sporty Twin of mine! So get crackin! Start doing your research now and pick your authors so we can pit them against each other in an all out battle covered in water, mud and happiness!
leckadams - Oh I'll be ready!
Enigma Lynne - And so will I! Be on the look out h00rs! We might post some ideas and get some feed back before the next post so we can make this battle interactive! Till then, Florida Twin, signing off!
leckadams - Ohio Twin - Gone! :)

Let Your Fingers Do the Talking by busymommy
So my friends will be shocked to know that I actually read a non canon story and absolutely loved it. If all Bella/Jasper stories were like this it could make me a convert. Who would have thought? So what is it that makes this story so amazing. Well besides the fact that Jasper is a smooth talking mother ****er this story kept me guessing which is saying a lot since it's only two chapters long as of right now.
I can go on and on about why I think you should read it but if this story can take a strict E/B girl and make her root for Jasper that has to tell you something right there. Happy reading!

Hush Little Baby - by Lifelesslyndsey
Pairing: Peter/Bella
Rating: M
Warnings: Adult themes
Status: Complete O/S
Summary: Fragments of Her broken heart, trite as it sounded, were proverbially lodged in their ancient wood. Part of Her lived in these woods, part of Her died in these woods. He followed the pieces and found her.
Sometimes you read a story that is so well done, yet so completely unique that you’re in awe of the author’s ability and shocked that you’ve never stumbled across their stories before. LIfelessLyndsey is one of those authors that I have become spellbound by her amazing writing of Hush Little Baby.
The story was originally written for the We Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Coven Contest last year and won the public vote as the favorite story of those entered. Its prose is beautifully written and drew me right into the pain and unbearable longing of Peter and Bella’s individual heartbreaks.
It all begins with Bella being so lost that she hasn’t spoken a word since Edward left her in the woods. She finds herself in the meadow and is found by Laurent and the wolves, but flees in a moment of self preservation and ends up on Peter’s newly inhabited doorstep. He is completely drawn to her and cannot help himself from his desire to drain the life right out of her. He somehow stops himself and allows her to change.
“I felt no need to explain my past as she felt no need to remember hers. We were two clean slates come together, both nothing and everything all at once.”

A Review In Etiquette: Criticism
One of the hardest things that anyone can take is criticism. No one really wants to admit it, but it's the truth: it hurts to hear that you suck at something. Even constructive criticism can hurt someone's feelings. The problem is, nowadays there has been a rise of what I like to call the "Mean Girl Epidemic" and it's starting to leak into fandoms and cause lots of drama. So much so that people are quitting: they are giving up their stories, pulling the ones they have listed, and walking away. Why? Because someone skipped class the day in kindergarten when the golden rule was taught.
Or at least forgot how to be respectful enough to express their opinions in a decent manner.
I know that there is going to be some negative reviews out there. I've been on the receiving end of them just as much as all of you have. The problem is not leaving a negative review, but doing so nicely.
Carrie had shared with me: In one of my recent fics I took a lot of flak for how I ended it, and it was the first time I'd been openly called conceited, a cocktease, and a "fucking bitch" over anything I wrote. That didn't feel good, particularly because it took me by surprise; I thought everyone would understand where I'd been going with the story and I was genuinely horrified to find out that that wasn't the case.
Why do people think that being this rude is okay? Would you have appreciated being called those things? I'm betting you wouldn't have. So what makes you think that speaking like this to another person would have been okay? It's not, plain and simple.
There have been many fics that I have read that have not ended the way I have liked, or would have ended myself, but that never made me leave a nasty review that stooped to name calling. I have found a polite way of responding that expressed my opinion politely: I adore your story, but the ending kind of broke my heart. Part of me wished for a happy ending, but I follow what you did and why you left it that way. I look forward to reading your new fic when posted!
That particular writer was so happy that I had said something nice about the way she had ended her story, that she took the time to email me back and express such feelings. We started to talk and she explained that her idea of a happy ending was not mine. After a lengthy discussion, I understood why she wrote it the way she did, and she offered to write a happy ending for me. I politely declined, because I'd rather a story stay in it's true form than be changed because of my desires.
So my lesson for this month is simply this: Do unto others as you would have done unto you.
Or in a more modern day "Mean Girl" way - Quit being such a bitch, and grow the frak up. Not everything has to be about you.
Class, dismissed.
